Sound Bite New Year’s Eve

Heard a story on NPR about youth and technology; a 4 year old picked up a regular, hard copy picture…touched it and tried to enlarge view. The youth of today expect this technology to be everywhere…it is a part of their lives.

They don’t even call it “technology”. It just is. Like air.

Currently as a Husband for 33 years, a Father for 16, and a professional speaker for 18, I began writing 5 daily, and different, blogs on April Fools Day, 2009. Back then, it was simply a 100-day challenge to deliver on a promise I made to myself as a College Junior in 1979 - write a book about Life, for my children. Who would have thought it would take 30 years to get started?

  1. Lots of reinforcement to that fact, here in our house!
Evie (19mos) picks up the ipod touch & knows exactly what to do with it.
Cavlin loves to rearrange the icons. We’ve gotta work on the task management though. Whenever I get my ipod back from him, there are 20 apps open! 🙂

  2. One further thing though. With touch screens and touchpads as mice, Calvin had a heck of a time figuring out what to do with a mouse. He doesn’t get much practice with that, here at home. Weird to watch input methods get outdated!

  3. I’m telling you. the world is changing so fast, that people can’t even fathom.
China’s top 25% smartest students is a bigger population than all of the American students combined.

Then we add to that by putting cheap laptops in the hands of 3rd world countries….3rd world kids don’t lack a creative mind, they lack nutrition, medicines, etc. But their minds are an untapped Diamond mine. And the list goes on and on….

It’s such a competitive advantage to watch the digital neanderthals slowly face the ice age.
